I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. I am a first-gen Mexican-American focused on improving health equity, uplifting underserved communities, holistic medicine, and putting people over profit. In my free time, I like to read, reconnect with nature, and discover new music (or old music). I initally joined CHE because a friend (Gabriel) forced me to come to a meeting. However, I stayed due to the fact that I found a supportive community and have made life-long friends. I also LOVE the fact that we give back to minority communities and I truly feel like we are making a tangible difference.

One of my major responsibilities is to plan Taco Tuesday! Taco Tuesdays are our main fundraising events. However, we are always looking for more fundraising opportunities. We are also in charge of allocating and handing out the annual scholarship.

Hi. I'm Erica and I come from the city of Santa Maria. Most aren't familar with where it is but it's 15 minutes from San Luis Obispo and 2 hours from Santa Barbara. I'm a Mexican American first generation student who is aspiring to become a physician, with a potential emphasis in pediatrics. I enjoy baking or trying different vegan goodies, shopping, self-care, arts, or simply watching a movie recommendation after a long week or academic school year. I joined CHE because I wanted to find a latinx community in Berkeley who had similar interests and goals of pursuing health careers. I wanted to find a family or others who I could share experiences with and learn from. CHE has not only given me that but has allowed me to meet new people and feel supported in Cal. We root each other up, so in times of midterms or other tough times we are able to persevere. I genuinely enyoy the company of other CHE members.

My responsibilities entail the organization and management of Taco sales during the semester. This involves contacting the vendor and other logistics needed to be done for the taco sale to  go smoothly the day of the sale. The money collected from these sales are used to give scholarships, 2 to 2 undergraduate and 1 to a high schooler to support them in their  health career goals.
